EDUCATION COMMITTEE


The mission of the USGBC Hawaii Chapter Education Committee is to educate industry, business, government and the general public about best practices in green building and associated sustainability fields by providing educational opportunities to our chapter members and to the public at large.

The Education Committee accomplishes this by organizing and hosting educational events such as workshops, presentations and webinars in fields such as green building, energy management, renewable energy, and building science.


2015 Goals & Objectives:

Continue with regularly scheduled committee meetings

 Increase active committee membership.  Possible actions include but are not limited to networking at Annual Chapter Members event, and social media

Continue to implement a leadership plan to develop future chair leaders of the education committee (term June to June or per USGBC calendar year), Vice-Chair become Chair, Chair becomes advisor, new Vice-Chair.

 Evaluate and update chapter strategic plan as related to the education committee, consider 5-year strategic plan

Continue ongoing USGBC webinars, lectures, workshops for members (free webinars)

Develop awareness of National USGBC and Pacific Regional Council (Joanna representatives) 

Utilize “Wiggio” to increase communications  amongst committee; share minutes, agenda, conference call phone number

Attend Regional leadership conference to be held in April, as committee chairs are eligible to attend in CA (budget someone)

Educate members on (CMP) Credential Maintenance Program and new LEED version 4.
